Priority Life Frequently Asked Questions
Is chiropractic treatment appropriate for children?
The chiropractic adjustment is safe for patients of all ages, including newborns. After an assessment of your child’s spine, the chiropractor will perform a gentle adjustment using either his or her hands or a small tool. This adjustment, alongside the use of chiropractic therapies, serves to remove the subluxation.
How is a chiropractic adjustment performed?
Chiropractic adjustment is a procedure in which trained specialists (chiropractors) use their hands or a small instrument to apply a controlled, sudden force to a spinal joint. The goal of this procedure, also known as spinal manipulation, is to improve spinal motion and improve your body’s physical function.
Why is there a popping sound when a joint is adjusted?
This is caused by small pockets of air or bubbles, which are in the fluid that surrounds your joints. When joint tissues are stretched during a chiropractic adjustment, the pockets of air “pop,” which creates that cracking sound you hear. After this treatment, you may feel more movement in your back.
What types of pain do chiropractors treat?
Chiropractors treat a lot of things including Sciatica, Sports Injuries, Car Accident Injuries, Herniated Discs, Back Pain, Chronic Pain, and Migraine Headaches just to name a few. The benefits of chiropractic care go beyond this and extend into general health as our core body structure affects overall function and health.
Do adjustments hurt?
Chiropractic adjustments usually do not hurt. Adjustments to certain joints in the spine or extremities may feel slightly uncomfortable or pressure, but once the adjustment is performed you should not feel pain. In general, patients enjoy being adjusted and like the way that the adjustment feels.
Will a chiropractic adjustment completely remove back pain?
For many, back pain can become chronic if left untreated. Chiropractic care has been shown to ease and even eliminate back pain for many patients.
Can I see a chiropractor if I am pregnant?
Many pregnant women find that chiropractic adjustments improve the pregnancy experience and make delivery easier. Adjustments are adapted to accommodate the stage of pregnancy and the unique needs of each patient.
What types of adjustments do your doctors perform?
Our doctors are all trained in various techniques including drop table, pin and stretch, cupping, low level laser, manual adjustments, and instrument adjustment. All of these are performed in a closed office offering one on one appointments.
Why is my first appointment 30 minutes?
Your first appointment consists of a Consultation, Exam, and an Adjustment. This allows the doctors to get to know personally to determine what kind of treatment you would benefit from. Your next appointments will only be about 10 minutes long.
